I'm loving this outfit. My sweetie and I rented a new piece of property - first "beachfront" I've ever had and the first time I've not lived in a skybox in SL other than the Linden home I keep for my alts:) So I needed some beach-appropriate clothes. I went to Miel to grab the 50L Friday necklace and bracelet - they are customizable (you can change the lettering to anything you want!) as well as color change - an AMAZING deal for just 50L! I also fell in love with the leggings and tank. Then it was off to Shoe Fair to see if I could find a pair of flats that would match. The pictures were snapped at our new place. The gazebo in a couple of the shots is the Summer Night Gazebo by Cheeky Pea.

My life's been in a bit of an upheaval lately, so posts may be infrequent, but I'm trying:) Lifting the fog from my mind and the sadness from my eyes and getting on with life.

I have the New Year's blues...and what better way to express it than to match my style to my mood and head to my favorite in-world blues club, Fogbound.

After an hour or so listening to some smooth blues with the friendly crowd at Fogbound (including a few tunes from Janis in honor of her birthday), I headed back home with my spirits lifted to take some quick pics of this casual outfit (details below).

Birthday Girl

Today was my birthday - my first life birthday, that is:) It was not the best of days.

Luckily, I had the day off from work because I wanted my birthday off and so I'd get a nice 4-day weekend.

Unluckily, I have been fighting off a migraine for two days:( So I got up and took a migraine pill...which combats the headache and the nausea, but leaves me feeling groggy and out of sorts for most of the day. I spent most of the day half dozing and half awake. I had wanted to spend some of my day off in WoW, leveling up my hunter or the new Worgen I started playing in Cataclysm, but I just couldn't get my brain coordinated enough to play today.

My sweetie spent some time with me this morning, snuggling and cuddling and saying sweet somethings to me (really, who decided to call them "sweet nothings"? I refuse!). He also logged into SL and made me a present:)

He titled it Love and Wisdom. The glowing orb on top rotates and when you click it, it puts some of those sweet somethings into the local chat window.

All in all, it was not a BAD day, but I wish I'd been more alert and able to spend my day doing more than laying in bed battling the urge to fall asleep! But the snuggling this morning was nice, and Leo and I watched a movie tonight (Resident Evil Afterlife...which sorta sucked), and as I lay here listening to him snoring through my headset, I think of how lucky I am to have him in my life.

Anyway...thank you to all of you who wished me a happy birthday:) Despite my grogginess, it WAS a happy day. To my sweetie, thank you for the beautiful present, but thank you most of all for being with me. We just celebrated our second Christmas together (do you believe it?!) and I hope we share many many more. I love you.

Just a quick driveby post...I'll update later with SLURL's if I have time, but I will tell you where all these items are from.

Right down to the last minute, I was out finishing up my "RL" Christmas shopping. Ugh, some of you know I suffer from (sometimes severe) social anxiety...so you can imagine what battling your way through the holiday-shopping crowd is like...

Well, I took some pics this morning of a new shirt I picked up last night at Plastik...and forgot to mail them to myself so I could do a post from work. So I was browsing through my Flickr photostream and thought that I would post a few pix from there. I know I've posted these shoes elsewhere, but here are a couple of pictures of the Jori shoes from Pixel Mode when I was messing around with green screen and backgrounds. Bax Does It Again!

I remember when the Bax ankle boots first came out...I had to have them. Then they came out in various colors...and I had to have all of those as well. Then came the Prestige boots...mmmmmm...and I have those in all colors now too.

And then yesterday a message comes through the group...Prestige boots in holiday colors - with a special holiday price tag of 249L (149L for member of the SL group). These are the Prestige suede boots with a white fur cuff and a color change script, giving you red, dark red, green, and blue options. Perfect colors that are bound to match at least one of your holiday outfits:)

Blog Name Change and a Break from Xmas Hunts!

Well...after two years with the same blog name, now that I have decided to submit my site to the SL fashion feeds (thanks for that suggestion, Megz...I finally decided to take your advice! ;), I've learned that there's another blog called "My So-Called Second Life" that's already in the feeds and I've been asked for a new name. So after tossing a bunch of names around in my head, I've decided to change this blog's name to FLAUNT! and move my "regular" blog here. I hope you like the new name. I'm not sure if it fits, but I'll try it on for awhile and see how it feels. I'd also considered Fashionably Fickle or Simply Irresistible...they may still be contenders...time will tell!

Anyway, taking a break from the Xmas Hunts...I finally finished the Peace on Earth Hunt...all 282 vendors! I still intend to do the Happy Holidays Hunt, but I'm making myself take a break for a few days;) As nice as it is to hunt for free virtual stuff...I still have to go shop for some "real" stuff too.

So here is an outfit that I found in the unorganized part of my inventory. This means that I've picked it up at some point over the last few weeks while I've been hunting. I can't even tell you if it's a group gift, something I bought (I doubt it), or a freebie, dollarbie, or something picked up on a 60L weekend or 50L Friday. The reason I doubt I bought it is because based on the picture on the box, I'd not have purchased this....but then...this is one of those instances where an item looks much better on than the picture on the box, which is why it's finding its way into my blog.

I love the colors, I love the skirt. I think it looks great with the shoes I'm wearing and the updo. The touch of teal in the skirt goes great with the earrings I have on too. This dress alone is making me think I should go through my inventory and find those items that I've set aside simply because I didn't like the picture on the box...maybe I'll find a few surprises! Here's another view. The skirt is really cute; it has various textures in it, including a furry one underneath the outer layers.

Attention Designers: Glitch Pants Glitch

"Glitch pants" are a necessary evil in SL, at least for the time being. Due to the limitations of prim skirts (and the usual hideousness of system skirts), clothing designers have to include a pants layer with their skirts and dresses that must be worn so that your naked legs don't show when you walk. However, either designers forget or are unaware that they should always make those pants layers modifiable.

Here is why...I recently got a cute little dress as part of one of the currently running hunts. I put on the shirt layer, the glitch pants, and the prim skirt, then a pair of shoes...only to see this:

This is really a very easy fix. You just go into Edit Appearance and edit the pants layer - making the pants legs shorter. To my dismay, though, the pants layer on this outfit is non-mod...

Below are my legs without the pants layer so you can see the difference. Unfortunately, I can't wear the dress without the pants layer. I've sent a notecard to the designer in the hopes that he/she will either send me a modifiable version of the pants layer or modify the pants and send me a new version.

Not that I have anything against "cankles"...but...er...not on MY avatar, thank you!

I'm just posting this here as a reminder to designers to make your glitch pants layers modifiable or, if for some reason you choose not to (why???), make certain that you check, double-check, and triple-check them before you package them up for distribution. It would be a shame to make a cute outfit that nobody would wear...

Peace on Earth Hunt Part II

Well let me start this post with another non-POE item. This is the outfit I've been doing my "hunting" in. The antlers are from a gatcha machine at Relentless Couture.

The cute lights (necklace, legband, and belt) are from Trixxy's Shop (and yes, they do blink!). I'll be honest...I don't remember what I paid for them...it was one of those hunt-induced side-buys, but I couldn't resist!

The top is a free "tshirt" from DownDownDown. So glad I got it, and so glad I tried it on when I got it home because it's a cute little top (and not really a t-shirt!).

The skirt is actually from Solange! Fashions and is part of the Shimmy outfit in moss.

The boots are Bax-Coen Prestige boots in red. (Who doesn't have these boots?? Yum!)

Yeah, okay...so here's one more cute picture so you can see how stinkin' adorable this outfit is...

And now...moving on...POE #082 is from Bounce and is called Grand-ma's sweater...who hasn't gotten one of these?? Grandma's eyesight (and sanity) aren't quite what they used to be, so her knitting is just a little off...either that or she thinks I am a gorilla! Really long sleeves and a short waist make this a cute sweater. It comes with Electric Wild leggins in blue snake. The outfit comes with both an alpha layer and invisiprims to make your hands invisible. It also comes with "regular" sleeves. Hair is Giada (color-change headband).

Oh and the belly ring? That's by me and is NOT a POE item. If you like it, you can buy it here:)

Next is POE #086 Chicaholic outfit (boots, belt, and scarf included) by Shabby Chic. Hair is Giada.

POE #088 is the Holly necklace from ICED; a great way to make any outfit more festive!

Fierce Designs brings us POE #090, a cute angel outfit called (fittingly) Peace on Earth. Everything you see is included (except the hair, which is Truth's Minx). The globe rotates.

From Aluinn, we have a necklace and earrings set that is POE #094.

POE #102 is a World Peace necklace, earrings, and belly ring set from Dragon Charm Designs. If you look very closely at the peace sign on these pieces (click an image to enlarge), you can see the little Earth design.

Next up are POE #105 and #109, a cute little necklace and earrings set from Primagine called Ribbon and a Peace on Earth 2010 outfit from Silk Dreams Fashions. Hair is Minx.

Next is POE #113, Rehatched's Window Retreat Bench. The bench has a few cute poses - including this one called Play...which has your avatar jumping up and down on the bench... Hair is Minx.

Next is POE #120, Eve in Pink by PurpleMoon Creations, a gorgeous cotton candy pink gown that will make you feel like a princess. Hair is Rose.

And finally, POE #119...a handmade quilt from Belle's, which is pretty self-explanatory.

I say "finally," but this is not my final POE post. For one thing, I'm sure I have POE boxes I've not yet opened (I tend to go hunting for a good long while, then 'port home and open a ton of boxes). I'm up to #121. There are 282 stores participating. That leaves me with "only" 161 more to go... I'm not even halfway there and I'm already thrilled with all the great items I've gotten!

I'll also probably be trying a couple of posts to show some of the items-of-a-feather I've gotten (i.e., like a whole post on skins...I've gotten a LOT of skins on this hunt). That's if I have time...there are at least two or three other hunts I want to do, including the Happy Holidays From...hunt!

Peace on Earth Hunt Part I

I've been trying to think of the best (easiest?) way to do this, and I've finally decided that I should just post images and name the POE Globe # that the items are found in. That way, if you see something you like, you can go to this page and find the clue to where the globe is hidden at that store. I will also identify any non-POE items that appear in the images. I'm not going to be posting every single item here...just the ones I've liked a lot:)

For starters, in all images: Skin is my usual LAQ Tasha2 Glow - in either 1 - light lipstick - or 10 - dark lipstick. All poses are either Long Awkard Pose or DaisyMay. All hair is by Truth. Eyes are Dreaming in melon. As always, you can click an image to get a larger view.

And now...away we go...if this post seems to get too long, I'll stop and break it off into another post. The image above left is POE #104 Christmas Stocking Nest from Khargo. Oh no! Is Santa here already?! It looks like that's what I think by the look on my face! This is an awfully cute outfit to "get caught" in, though, doncha think? Santa might forget all about his milk and cookies;) This is POE #055(b) Kiss This by Caladesi Island Company. The bear and slippers are included. Hair is Tamina (night). Antlers are NOT a POE item, but are from a gatcha machine in Relentless Couture (50L I think). POE #055(a), by the way is men's matching pajamas (also with polar bear slippers:) It's non-transfer, so you'll need to drag your man along to get it;)

Next is POE #060, Eve in Dove, from DragonLady's Closet. Hair is Rose.

There is also a men's item in the same globe which is a suit that matches this gown. And again, the men's box is not transferable...so hopefully your man is still with you from when you got the PJ's;) Here's a frontal picture of the gown to show the detailing.

Next is POE #062 Holiday Honey from OuTRage! Clothing. Hair is Tina.

Next...POE# 065 Earth Necklace by Amaranthus. This is a really cool necklace. The beads along the chain are tiny Earth globes. The main pendant is also an Earth globe, but it's slowly rotating inside its fitting. Really mesmerizing!

Next is POE #066 Celine II in purple by Mondira Fashion. Included in the package are the necklace, earrings, and gloves as well as shoes (not pictured). Hair is Rose.

Next is POE #072 Peace on Earth hammock from Zoe's Garden and POE #073, an outfit from Crissy Designs (boots included). Hair is Tesa in espresso.

Next is POE #075 Cabaret by Sweeter than Candy. Stockings are included. The shoes are POE #048 L's Chunky Latex Pump - Carnaby Christmas by Lutricias Luxuries.

On to POE #076 Christmas Wreath and Peace on Earth from Ruth's Creations. The globe spins on the PoE wreath.

Next is POE #080 Christmas Carol by Tres Beau. Beautiful detail on this dress. Boots are Bax-Coen ankle boots. Hair is Giada.

Peace On Earth...Naive Artsy Fartsy Mad Hatter - HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Yummy! I have a few things to post about today! Click images for larger view!

Both of these first two items are from the Peace On Earth hunt (POE). First up is this cute little outfit from Naive, which is POE #27.

I paired it with this adorable pair of Ugg boots (and of course I forgot to grab the item info on the boots before I left the house this morning so I'll have to provide that later!). These images were taken at a place called Petals on the Wind, which was part of the POE hunt as well and which I landmarked as a place to come back for some pictures. This is a gorgeous sim! (Windlight setting: Blizzard in the photo above).

Next up is a dress from The Hatter is Mad, POE #19. Top hat, gloves, belt, and necklace are included, and it comes with a male top hat as well.

This outfit is NOT from the POE hunt, but rather is something I threw together myself and thought I would share.

I fell in love with these Artsy Fartsy leggings from Plastik and I was looking for a cute little outfit to wear to go dancing. The Miel tank I picked up the other day matched perfectly and the Monica hair (that's the one that makes my avi look like Alice from the Twilight movies lol) added the perfect pixie-ish touch!

Still going through all the items I picked up from the With Love From...hunt and here are a couple of items (gown and earrings) that I think are wonderful!

The dress is sheer and so it's see-through. Here I'm wearing two layers. Otherwise, it's extremely transparent...which is fine in certain company, but not so good if you're at a ballroom:) Paired with the Pearl Snowflake earrings from ICED, this is a great holiday gown...simple, yet elegant, especially with an updo from Truth! Not a bad outfit for 20L (excluding the hair)!

Above is a skin from Frick's Rezzday gift package (may be still available, I'm not sure). The dress and little hat are from Canimal (from their 50L going out of business sale). I think I'm heading back there tonight to grab the little hat in all colors. I think the hair was from the Dirty Turkey...hunt, but I don't recall right now. It could have been a freebie I found in a shop while I was on that hunt (told you it's hard to keep track LOL!).

While on the With Love From...hunt, Leo and I came across this clock and went looking for it. It turns out it was part of the I Love Tim Burton hunt which ended the first week of November...bummer...except that the hunt prize was still out at the store...so we scored the clock for free due to a forgetful shop owner! Shhhhh...clock is from POISE and has five or six poses. The bubblegum is from Pink Fuel. Shoes are the color-change Classic Pumps from Seven Leaves. I've had them forever and they're my "fall-back" shoes when I am wearing colorful outfits and don't have a pair to match:)

Okay, so I'm a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to the hunt madness... I've only just started doing them and now I'm addicted. The few I have done have been fun and interesting, but I've not completed a single one all the way through (except for the Franklyn Wescott Enigma, which was more of a mystery game than a hunt in my opinion). Until now. I have spent the last couple of days on the With Love From... hunt. This is part of a two-hunt series sponsored by ISPACHI (this first one runs from Nov 26-Dec 17 and the second si the Happy Holidays From...hunt which runs from Dec 10-Dec 31). There are 88 stores participating. Items cost 10L each, but the rules state that the items must be worth 400L or more. That's like 35,000L worth of stuff for 880L for each hunt...how can you go wrong?!

I have yet to go through all of the items I got. I think I've opened most of them, but there are so many I'm sure I've forgotten half of what I got from this hunt LOL! Not to mention the fact that I tend to wander the stores and pick up other freebies, dollarbies, as well as end up finding things I want to buy LOL! So it's hard to keep the hunt items separate from the rest of the stuff!

Anyway, here's my favorite item so far. I am planning on taking some time to snap some pictures of a lot of the items (or at least the ones I like!) over the next night or two:) Click the image for a larger view! Next up are the Peace on Earth hunt, the Happy Holidays From....hunt, and the Gift of Frost hunt! Can't wait! Coming home and opening up all my hunt prizes is like my own little Christmas!

I was browsing one of the SL blogs that I frequent, don't even remember which one, and it had a scarf on it from a post a few weeks ago, from a store called Miel. Never been there before and I liked the scarf so I 'ported there hoping it would still be available. I never found the scarf, but I did pick up a cute outfit. It consisted of a sleeveless hoodie and a belted skirt. I'm not really sure what creators are thinking lately with the odd sculptie skirts they are making, but while they look great in a pose and when you're standing still, some of them just do NOT work with most AO's. So this sent me on a hunt through my inventory because I KNEW I had the most perfect little patchwork skirt that would work with the hoodie and with the leggings/socks I also picked up at MIEL. After over 30 minutes of searching, I finally thought to check my "main" alt and sure enough, there was the skirt I wanted...and luckily it was transferable (YAY!). So here is the outfit. Wow...WoW!

Just popping in to let my SL friends know that I have been cheating on you once again and sneaking over to the world of Azeroth... Hehe...one of Leo's and my SL friends has recently downloaded the game, so I've been leveling a toon with her:) It was inevitable anyway since the new game expansion is coming out on December 7, so there are some big game changes going on in WoW right now. I am, however, trying to keep myself balanced more this time around and will make sure I keep on logging into SL! And too...if anyone wants to give WoW a shot, let me know and I'll shoot you a 10-day free trial:)

In other news LOL...I went back to Truth (AGAIN!) and bought a couple more new hairs. I'm addicted!! Also started doing The Dirty Turkey Hunt, which was really fun until I got to KMADD and can't find the damn item!!!!! I will have some new pictures up sometime soon:)

Teen Angst

Hehe...I am sooooooo gonna get in trouble for this post...but I just cannot resist. Leo was having a problem with his viewer...or his connection. I don't know if he ever figured out what it was. But his avi was "ruthed" on his end. On my end, he rezzed perfectly - skin, hair, clothing - everything except for his shape. On my end, his head was just short of my avi's shoulders. I could not stop giggling, which only made him get more frustrated, and he was getting pretty aggravated with me:\

On the one hand I felt bad. Nobody likes being laughed at, but it was purely unintentional and completely uncontrollable. You'd have laughed too. And I was not laughing at him...but rather at the situation! I mean, maybe it would not have been so giggle-inducing if he'd had on his skin without the guyliner, but because he did have on the one with the guyliner, it just so perfectly fit the moment and his frustration was perfectly mirrored in the "attitude" and stance of his avi as he tried to figure out what was wrong.

I tried to get a picture of us side-by-side, but he cleared his cache and was "rebaking" by the time I got myself in the right spot. But take my word for it...he with his teen stature, the emo angst on his face, looking like he was wearing his big brother's hand-me-down hoodie, and those big blue eyes...we looked like the teenaged punk standing next to the sexy babysitter. LOL! I only wish he'd been able to see the humor in the moment!

Looking at that, I find myself laughing all over again... Mr. Bean sneaking up the stairs, the black cat peeing in the litterbox...

But...I'm glad he got his avi figured out and back to normal. While "teen Leo" gave me a couple of good laughs, I was starting to feel a little perverted with my tall, sexy "babysitter" standing there LOL!

I have a pet peeve. Haha...I don't have too many pet peeves...I promise. One of my pet peeves in SL is avi's with short little arms. I was in a club yesterday afternoon and I think I was the only one there who didn't have little tiny arms. So I did a Google search and found that it was not all in my head...there are other people who've noticed the "T-Rex" phenomenon.

So what I suggest is that you stand up - yes, right now. Stand up and let your arms hang down at your side. Now take the tips of your fingers and poke them against your legs...and look down and see where you're poking yourself... I bet (unless you're a relentless pervert and can't keep your hands away from your pussy or cock) that you're poking yourself about mid-thigh, right? Exactly. Now look at your avatar. Do your avi's fingertips end somewhere around the crotch area? If they do, you need to make them longer!

No comment on the fact that the two images are not exactly the same size; they're close enough for you to see what I'm getting at (and yes, I know if you're a guy you probably don't even acknowledge that there are any hands, arms, or legs in the picture, so just skip to the next blog, ok? LOL!) I couldn't find a pose among my plethora of poses that would make my avi's hands point straight down, but you can see where her fingertips would fall if her hands were straight, right? And I think her arms could even be a little bit longer on the right-hand picture, but considering that the LL avi models are not perfect (do people really have knees THAT tiny??), it's close enough for me.

Sorry. I now return you to your regularly scheduled whatever. I just had to vent LOL!

Mystery Abounds...

I made a couple of new friends and we hooked up as a team. We've been trying to figure out the first clue, among other things...trying to "think outside the box." So far, it's been both fun and frustrating:) But it's a fun way to make new friends!

EDIT: November 8, 2010 - Well, we finished! Our team consisted of myself, Tanaquil Beaumont, Marlee Theas, and Takashi Alekseev. Due to our varying time zones, there were usually only ever one or two of us on at the same time, and as we neared the end, I swear our brains were turning to mush! I will say this - we technically finished inside the top 10, although outside of the top 5, but one of our team members was absent, so we were unable to turn in our notecard until this morning. So while we all worked our brains for a good part of the puzzle, as a team, we officially did not finish until this morning.

It was an awesome puzzle, and great fun to see all the investigators racing against each other to try to figure out the clues. I hope Trace Osterham and company does this again! If so, I know for sure I will be participating!

While we did not "win," new friends are always a great prize too!

My sweetie has been wanting me to take some pictures of his avi with his new skin. So last night we went pose-shopping and I took some shots in my new "photo booth" on the roof of our skybox, using a green screen for most of them. As always, you can click the images for a larger view.

I'm still figuring out how to be an SL "photographer." Rarely do I ever photoshop any of the pictures I take for my fashion posts, other than to soften them a bit and crop them to make collages and stuff...and I have to confess...I don't use PhotoShop. You know, we say we have "photoshopped" something, and that term has sorta just entered the modern vernacular... I use Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7. I don't even know what version they are up to anymore - version 10 or 11 maybe? I should really upgrade, but I just hate learning new apps. I always managed to make PSP do the same things that PhotoShop could do, just in different ways. But here's the problem I am having, which probably is "fixed" in more current versions:

Well...beside the fact that it makes me want to kiss all his boo-boos away, you see the green around his hair? That's what I'm having trouble with... It's because of the "green screen" I used. I could get rid of it if I really wanted to by using the freehand select tool and increasing the image until I can see the individual pixels (which I have done before...)...but if any of you with PhotoShop can tell me how you do it in that app, maybe I can figure it out in PSP7...or it could just be a matter of that being a newer feature in PSP that I don't have yet...in which case, at this point, I should probably just break down and buy PhotoShop lol!

With the pictures below, I used a backdrop instead of the green screen, which works...but the green screen is still nice to have available so I can use any old backdrop I want without having to upload a ton of images into SL.

Yeah...you see what happens when he gives me lip? I beat him up...lol! And anyone who knows me knows I'm kidding. Like I'd beat anyone up LOL!

And this? I did this by accident. I think I could figure out how to do it again if I really tried...maybe...

See, the "green screen" remnants i the hair don't matter so much in greyscale! ::grin::

The only style notes I can tell you on these pictures are that the leather pants are from Deviance, the skin is from Belleza, and the poses are from Long Awkward Pose (where else?!)...everything else, I'll have to add tonight after I get the info from Leo:)

And these last two? Just throwing them in for good measure, so it's not all about Leo...need to keep his ego in check;) My avi is better-looking than his, don't you think? ;)

The Eyes Have It

Ok, so I have maybe three regular readers (I think)...but anyone who has read my blog regularly knows that I have been on the prowl for a new eye supplier since Miriel Enfield closed up shop. [Yes, we SLAddicts are a bit crazy...and talk about body parts and clothing as if they are drugs...just cut us some slack, k? We all have our quirks. Things could be worse, right?]

Well, I thought I'd post some of the contenders I have found so far. Granted, none of these places has as extensive a collection as Miriel had. By that I mean, some of them do have quite a large number of eyes, but Miriel had a lot of eyes that were of a consistent style while most of these places have various "collections" that may differ significantly from one collection to another.

I'm at work and bored, so I'm just going to post pics of all the eyes here and will "fix" this post later with a nice collage image. I should explain too that while my RL eyes are blue and my SL eyes have been blue since 2007, I found myself recently attracted to green eyes...mostly because I found Miriel's Emerald eyes on an alt and wanted them for my main avi...but alas, they were non-transfer:(

I'm pretty picky when it comes to eyes. My eyes (in RL) are probably the aesthetic bit of myself that I am the most proud of because I really do have pretty eyes:) They're sometimes blue, sometime grey - when they're blue, they can vary from a muted blue-grey to a vibrant bright blue - depending on clothing, mood, surroundings, lighting, etc. I've had people stop in mid-sentence to just smile and say "Wow...you really have gorgeous eyes..." One time, a friend said, "Your eyes look really spooky today...really cool!" Considering my RL anxiety and self-esteem issues, it's a big thing for me to actually admit to having something about myself I like LOL!

In SL, though, I have found that while realistic eyes are nice, they lack something - let's face it, folks...SL IS a virtual world, a fantasy place where we can be and look however we want. Part of that, for me, is more of an artistic slant than going for true "realism." I have enough of that outside of SL. My goal with my avi is to have something pretty to look at while I'm in-world - yes, a reflection of myself in a way, but also more free than I could ever hope to be. Since it is a virtual world, SL has some limitations - true, Windlight is amazing - the options you can select for the sky, water, lighting, etc. are astounding, but they are still no match for RL Windlight;) I think that might have something to do with why I find more realistic eyes to be sort of flat. You don't have the same reflections, the same variations in lighting and shadow in SL as you do in RL, so some bit of highlighting in the eyes themselves has to be there. The Poetic and FTL eyes below seem too "dark" to me, and the SLink eyes seem sort of cartoonish, maybe anime-ish? The Miriel eyes and the Chai eyes all seem to have the reflective highlights in similar areas of the eye and then some highlighting along the bottom right of the iris. Haha, sorry I guess I'm getting a bit carried away in the details;)

Next, in my current order of preference, are the eyes I've collected that I like the best (believe me...I have a LOT of eyes in my inventory that didn't even make it here;) I have been using the Chai Green 2 eyes almost exclusively for the past few weeks and I think they're beginning to appeal to me even more than my Miriel eyes.

Shoe Fetish and Latex

I've been shopping again... As always, you can click all images for larger versions.

First up, this great pair of shoes (or I should say "prosthetic feet") I bought last night. They are called Jori from Pixel Mode.

Know what sold me on these shoes? The detail on the heel of the foot. Granted, the detailing is really nice and probably won't match the lesser detail of most skins, but unless you're zoomed in this close, believe me...you do NOT notice the difference. The shoes come with a HUD for adjusting the skin tone (there are like 20 color choices along with a slider to then adjust those skin tones to your skin) and nail color. The only thing that could have made these shoes more perfect would have been if you could change the shoe color. Instead, you have to buy separate colors. So black it is...since it goes with nearly everything (especially in my inventory LOL). Once you set your skin tone and nail color, you can Save the color scheme as a default, and there are also other presets for various lighting options (daylight, nighttime, model lighting, etc.). I didn't really get that part, but I've not really had much time to mess with them yet.

Next up is Leo's new favorite outfit for me;) We were at a space-themed sim the other day (he was looking for robot avi's), and they had a Mall. We found this outfit in Graves...I think you can see why it's his favorite;)

This is called Crossfire. It comes with so many different options (and little prims - all the dangling parts are prims) that it's tough to figure out how to wear it LOL! You can choose to wear it with or without the latex, with or without the "bra," or it also comes with x-shaped pasties instead of the bra.

The boots were bought separately, but they're also from Graves, and they go very nicely with this outfit:) I'm not on Viewer 2.0 or Phoenix, so I had to use the invisiprims, but the boots also come with the alpha layer thing so you don't get the weird "aura" around the boots...but even with the invisiprims, I couldn't help but share the ass picture:)

Finally, I said I'll try to update this post tonight, but I have to confess that the new WoW patch was released yesterday (and I downloaded it last night) and so I might have to spend some time in WoW figuring out all the changes. The next expansion's set for release on December 7 and so this is a big patch, introducing changes to the talent trees and spellbook, etc. I logged in briefly last night to take a look and it was a little overwhelming, so...

But then again, I'd become kinda burnt out on WoW, and I'm afraid of going back in too soon and burning out quicker, so I am purposely going to try not to spend too much time in there for now, knowing full well that once Cata comes out, I'll probably get hooked again and vanish back into that game...but for now, I'm stuck on SL LOL!

Oh...and before I forget...the eyes are Allure Green 2 by Chai. They're my favorite for now...replacing my beloved Miriel eyes:( I'm so afraid of creators leaving SL that when I find eyes I really like now, I buy them up LOL! I'm planning an "eye post" soon!

The Far Away

This is how the mind of an SL shopablogaholic works. I was browsing SL fashion blogs the other day and came across a pair of boots by Kookie (it always comes down to shoes with us girls, doesn't it?). I visited Kookie and fell in love with the boots, bought them in both the short and long versions. Well, the long version comes with woolen leggings and big woolen bootwarmers. Of course, I put those on and thought, "Hm. I need a sweater dress to go with these leggings..." My search brought me to Luck, Inc., where I found a black sweater dress. Well...then the sweater dress needed something, so I also bought a wide leather belt in red (also from Luck, Inc.).

Something was still missing, so I decided I needed a coat. I ended up at Aoharu, where I found a long military coat...bought it in both black and white. Then I found a cape coat and bought that (are you seeing why I go broke so fast???). Well. Now I needed a lighter-colored sweater dress because there was just too much black. So back to Linc I went.

Then it was time for blog photos. I hunted high and low, visiting autumn-themed sims, free photo studio sims, and then I remember AM Radio's The Far Away...which was the perfect way to end my evening. Just the right music, just the right ambience...exactly what I needed after my hectic night of sim-hopping.

All because of a pair of boots...

Duck Nipple

Ducknipple is the name of a store. I found the name so intriguing, I had to visit. There is a clearance room, in which I found the necklace to the right.

The Zodiac necklace has a clickable menu and includes all 12 signs of the Zodiac. I wear it with the Leo sign to represent Leo (both his SL name and his RL sign:)

The detail on the signs is really nice, as you can see from this picture. The chain too is nice quality. Simple necklace, but nice!

The BLITZED items all have great details. I'm not too thrilled with the fabric on the pants, but the pockets, chain, and pants cuffs (not visible in these pix due to the legwarmers) are great. The hoodie has great strings and zipper pull, and the pockets are nice too. It comes in two wearable options - one with and one without the pocket shadows, so you can wear it without the pockets if you want. The sneakers are HUD-driven and have a variety of color options, including the ability to change the main color, stripes, and laces on the sneakers and the legwarmers - either for both or for the left or right leg/foot individually.

I found a demo of the hair at Hair Fair and then went to the main shop to buy it in black because I liked it so much. I wish the ribbons were color change, but they're not, and I'm picky, so I'll only wear it with an outfit where they match; hence, the red tank under the hoodie:)

All in all, a great shopping trip!

Okay, so yessss...I've been away from SL for awhile...it's tough coming back, especially for a woman, because you go through your inventory and you realize that...well...it's the same old stuff you had before...so the first thing on your mind is SHOPPING!

A few modifications I made...the bracelet from Edge Grafica is on the left hand, I moved it to the right. Changed the detailing on the dress from gold to silver to go with the boots and the buckles on the shoes (I don't like gold:) And I added some teal tints to the hair. Copied and modded the belt to go with the sweater outfit. Absolutely LOVING all the new attachment points in the newer viewers!

I won't even TELL you the parts of my body that tingle when I look at those Gos shoes:) Yum!! They're available in other colors (I bought them on the SL Marketplace, but I have since visited the in-world store), and they're scripted so you can wear them with or without the strap (on which you can also change the metal color to silver or gold). NICE!

The dress by Gawk! is something - the skirt prims on mini-skirts and mini-dresses are always a gamble - sometimes they look oh-so-good and sometimes they're just plain FAIL! Well, Gawk! gets it just right on this one! And they have some nice little touches, like the little extra prim that goes between the boobs (the dress would probably look fine without it) and the belt, but it's nice little added touches like that that make the difference between good and great:)

The boots were a lucky find in my inventory...I'd forgotten I had bought them, and who'd think that a place that was so well-known for HAIR would make such a great pair of boots?! It's amazing the jewels you can find with a little time away and a fresh look through your inventory!

Hair Fair...?

Alright, so I spent several hours this weekend wandering around the sims that made up Hair Fair 2010. I picked up some freebies, a few dollarbies, lots of demos, and a few new hairs that I liked. Nothing really struck my eye, but there were a few crazy ones. One in particular, though...I wanted to get some good shots of it to stick on a tab in my Picks (I later abandoned this idea and went with something else)...so I had to find a crazy place to take some shots. I hereby bat myself in the head for not remembering where these sims were...normally I name them in the pictures...but truthfully, I think I was laughing too hard. Without going in-world, I can't even tell you what the name of this hair is, so I'll definitely need to update this post, but when I opened these up in my graphics program, I was amazed to find that I can actually still pull off sexy with this silly hair on my head LOL!

See? Told ya. Seriously, does it get any goofier than that? I think that's a cupcake on my head...made out of hair...pink hair. I do know that the outfit is something called Bubblegum from Canimal.

And now the sexy picture. See? Even with a dumbass pink-hair cupcake thing on my head, I'm still smokin' hot! I really wish I'd gotten the name of this sim because the sultry lighting in this picture is completely due to the glow on the bushes behind me. I'd love to find this place again and take some serious shots in a nicer outfit and minus the cupcake hair lol!

For starters, for those who haven't noticed, there's a new blog post over on the Hard Couture blog. [Edit 2/19/2010: Well, scratch that...apparently, after I posted, the blog got deleted somehow...I'm still not sure what happened. Bummer:\]

Maybe it's the time of year, but I found myself missing Second Life with a vengeance, and have found myself a little burnt out with WoW. Not only have I re-entered SL, but last night I dropped three months' rent on a 3,000+m plot of land and Leo and I have set our old skybox back up. (On a sidenote, Leo's also come to a better understanding of the finer - and degenerate? - points of short form roleplay, and so I've begun to return to a few of my old haunts and activities;)

I've realized in my return that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Hard Alley, for example, has become more of a roleplay sim than a general hangout - at least, that's what the signs say...I can't really think of it as anything other than my home away from home, whether I have an RP tag on or not! I've been hanging out there again a lot lately. I've also wandered the grid, dropping in on places I used to go to a lot (Force Park, Dark Alley) and finding a few new ones (Slut Street is the only one I can think of the name of right now). I've also been porting to the less seedy places too (Tempura, Chakryn Forest, etc.). And, of course, catching up with friends:)

I can't promise I won't vanish into the wilds of Azeroth (WoW) again from time-to-time (oh...and especially when the new expansion comes out, which I'm betting will be around Christmastime...hence why my rent's paid ahead for just three months LOL!), but for now, I'm baaaacccckkkkkk!

SPECIAL NOTE: I'm looking for anyone who might have Miriel eyes in their inventory with transfer permissions. I'm interested in buying any that I can find, except for colors I already have. Specifically, though, I'm looking for her standard eyes from the Luminous collection (I think) in the color Emerald. I have that pair (non-transfer) on an alt, but I desperately want them (and as many others as I can find) on my main toon. Sad for me...I had them, but I must have given them away (I gave away a LOT of eyes to friends and noobs lol!)

Burnout

Well...I've become a little burned out in WoW, so I've been taking some time away from it. Of course, you know, I was the segue into getting Leo re-addicted to it last year, so he's not taking a break LOL! It's all good, though. We're giving my shaman (and his priest) a rest and he's working on a rogue, mostly PvPing with it (he really misses PvP!). He's also joined the arena championships, so I'm sure that will start to take up some of his time.

Leo and I celebrated our one-year anniversary yesterday. Yup, hard to believe it was one year ago yesterday when he first fell into F'd expecting to find Van Halen and found me instead! F'd was fully called For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and Excess Debauchery (F.U.C.K.E.D.). He found me instead LOL! For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge was also a VH album:) Well, one year later and I can't imagine life without him:) Mwah, hon;)

So anyway...I've been "updating" my SL toon - new skin that I mentioned before, then last week I bought a new AO, and I've been buying some new dance animations for my Huddle too. I realized last night that ETD is gone (at least as far as I can tell) and so I was off hunting for some new hair. I found a note on the ETD flickr site where Elika Tiramisu of ETD (Elika Tiramisu Designs) calls ETD hair outdated and dusty, or something like that. Not really sure why other than that I notice people wearing a lot of flexi-hair and not so much sculpti-hair, which I think ETD is. Still love my ETD hair, though:( I almost regret missing so much time in SL because had I known she'd be closing up shop, I'd have went on a spending frenzy! Well, a quick Google search for "best hair in SL" brought me to a few places and I found Analog Dog to have the most realistic hair I've owned to date. See the hair in my new title image above...that's AD's Milli, with the optional cember bangs (attach separately). The skin is the new LAQ skin I got, which I can't recall the name of off the top of my head...but really looks pretty close to my previous skin...just a little more polished. The leather jacket is from DeLa, leather pants from Deviance, not sure where the belt and top are from. Eyes are, as always, Open Ocean by Miriel, who is sadly also out of business:(

I hung out at Hard Alley a bit last night, testing out my new dance animations on top of a car in the landing area. I've also been wandering the grid, checking out live musicians and finding some pleasant surprises. And then there are always my favorite musical haunts - Sanctuary (FINALLY I have some "metal" animations I can use there!!), The Rock (woot, classic 80s!), and Blue Nile (*waves at Muse*). And of course, catching up with some old friends:) Few more days should give me my proper SL fix and then it's back to grinding in WoW again! My shaman (and Leo's priest) are so close to 80, I can almost TASTE it!

Well, I logged into SL one night last week for a good long while. Leo and I had a young friend in WoW who was looking for something a bit more "social" so we brought her into SL. Hehe, the first IM I got was from Hard Rust who, upon hearing that we were corrupting a new friend, told me to bring her over to the Alley... Noooo...she's a minor and I'm not contributing to the corruption of a minor in that respect! Hell, it's bad enough we introduced her to SL:\

So let's say Skaty and Leo's makeover consulting duo was once again in action. I had forgotten how much I missed it! We kinda do the same in WoW sometimes, come across some lost little noob who doesn't know which end is up and help them find their way:) So anyway, we decided to set our friend "Wolf" up with a skin at least, so we headed over to Redgrave and after teaching her how to "buy" and try the demos, I sneaked over to Laqroki to see if they had any new skins. In the meantime, Leo was off at Redgrave for Men to see what was new over there. Soon enough, both of us were sporting new skins, which really just looked like better versions of our old skins (remember me saying long ago that most of what makes your avi is your shape? still holds true!). I'll have pictures of mine up soon.

Once Wolf picked out her new skin, it was off to League for some jeans, after which I dropped a bunch of free tops on her. After admiring a pair of boots at League, of course I had to sweep her off to Bax to get the "fuck me" boots, although I didn't call them that to her! Store owner Bax Coen was even there to assist with the fitting. By this time, Leo was 'porting all over SL, showing his long-lost friends his shiny new skin. After one last trip, this time to Vista for a basic AO, I took Wolf back to our SL house and gave her a few pointers about life in Second Life, including showing her how to dance, telling her how to search for clubs and whatnot, etc.

All in all, it was a fun night and, despite the L....A....G.... it reminded me of what I enjoyed about SL...well, before I found WoW anyway;)

Speaking of WoW, Leo and I have started leveling a couple more toons, this time he's leveling a discipline priest (healer) while I'm leveling an enhancement shaman (damage, of course:) Right now, we're at Level 46, more than halfway to 80, woohoo! What makes it nice is we can run a few Heroic dungeons on our 80's to earn emblems that we can then turn in to get heirloom gear that we can share among all of our other characters. So my shaman has heirloom shoulders, chestpiece, and two maces which, after she reaches 80 and moves on to her Tier gear, can be passed on to one of my other lowbies.

Anyway...that's that! Off to the Real World again! I wish it would stop interrupting my virtual world!!

Well, the end of F'd anyway. I had logged into SL the other night and was wandering around F'd. While I liked having the place and appreciate how many people enjoyed it, I really needed to sell it. It was originally bought by me and OverBoy together and Over said he couldn't continue to keep his half, and there was no way I could justify the cost of taking over his half of the tier. I had recalled that an adjacent neighbor had asked if the lot was for sale several weeks ago (before it actually was for sale), so when I logged in the other night, I contacted the owners of each parcel that surrounded F'd and offered to sell the land to them. One particular person owned a parcel that bordered F'd on one side and also partially on another side. He contacted me yesterday and offered to purchase it for 60,000L. That was what I'd stated here on the blog and so that's what I sold it for.

I'm kicking myself in hindsight because my annual account fee just came out of my credit card, so I'm in SL for another year on a premium account anyway...so I'm kicking myself that I didn't keep a 512 meter parcel of that land for myself:\ Tier-free and double-prim? Doh! Stupid stupid stupid!!!! But ah well. What happened happened and couldn't have happened any other way...right? ;)

Wonder if Hard Rust will let me park my fucking machine at the Alley somewhere.........hehe...

Anyone who has been reading my blog(s) [tbh, I think there's only one or two of you LOL!] knows that my online addiction switched from SL to WoW a few months ago [it's actually more an addiction to a certain person...whom I missed so much when he would vanish to WoW that I eventually followed him there shortly after the arrival of my $3,000 gaming laptop, which I had gotten (embarassing to admit) primarily to run Second Life, but which has served its creators' intended purpose (gaming) extremely well:D

Having reached Level 80 (currently the level cap in WoW) in a fairly short amount of time (three months), I then spent my time leveling my various professions (herbalism and skinning being the main ones, with the secondary ones being first aid, cooking, and fishing) and obtaining a bunch of achievements (some serious ones like the argent tournament things and some rather silly like Food Fight - obtained by bonking someone over the head with food during the Pilgrim's Bounty holiday events;) Now my WoW experience consists mostly of completing 'dailies' - daily cooking and fishing quests - and playing the auction house. I have quested a bit on a few other characters - my human rogue, a tauren druid, and a troll warrior - but I still like my hunter the best.

Anyway, I'm trying not to say that WoW is getting boring. It really is not. I'd love to level another character, but my main leveling buddy (Leo), having been playing WoW for a lot longer than I, has passed the point of being excited by the game anymore and mostly finds it boring since he's done all those starter quests so many times before. He has made a Tauren shaman to level with my Tauren druid and that seems like maybe it might be a good thing (even though I can't stand my female Tauren - I think she looks stupid LOL) because at least the questing will be mostly new to him since he's mostly played Alliance characters up until now.

Last night he was off playing Call of Duty and I'd finished my dailies in WoW, so I decided to log into SL and set the land for sale. [If you're interested in buying the place, see one of my previous posts for details and send me an e-mail. In-world, I've set the buyout price to 100,000L - an outrageous price, but I set it at that because if someone is just going to outright buy it (which would essentially close F'd at the click of a button), then they can pay that. I figure nobody's gonna spend THAT much for it unless they really REALLY want it, so probably they'd contact me to negotiate anyway.] I logged in, found our house still intact (surprising since I think we're WAY behind on rent...but then I think our landlord is as much a slacker as I am;) so I dropped a couple more weeks' rent in the rental box and headed over to F'd. I did a little dancing (mostly to see the bouncy boobs again...didn't really seem very bouncy to me, but *shrug*) and the lag got me so frustrated that I logged out not long after I logged in.

As it turns out, I think the lag issues in SL were never due to my computer (though the new one was STILL $3k of "free money" well spent and I don't regret it one bit). On an open source viewer (Emerald), which should be more stable than the standard viewer, the lag was still excrutiatingly frustrating. I DO experience some lag from time to time in WoW, but (a) I know it's due to my internet connection at times and (b) while I DO disconnect, the lag is still never even CLOSE to as frustrating as the lag in SL. Never. Last night I found myself wondering how I stood it for so long, but then I think it's the people I met that kept me addicted moreso than Second Life itself. Ugh...but the lag is a huge deterrent:( And if it's bad on MY computer, I can just imagine what it's like for people running on inferior graphics cards and less RAM!

My business partner (OverBoy) probably isn't returning to SL and I can't afford the place on my own, so F.U.C.K.E.D. is up for sale (or rent if you're not a premium account holder). I'm asking 60,000L with all transferrable objects included (only those owned by Skatoulaki Nakamori)...with the exception of the gallows, the fucking machine, the interrogation chair, the desk/chair in the jail entrance. Those babies are MINE:)

Price is negotiable, so make an offer! Have never sold property on SL before, so I'm sorta pricing by what I've seen land going for elsewhere. All reasonable (and probably not-so-reasonable:) offers will be considered...

If you don't have a premium account but you'd still like to "buy" the place, I'm considering renting it for 6,000L per month, with or without the objects on the property (including the excluded items above), whether or not you want to keep it as it is or change it.

The property is 2048 sq m and is double prim (937 prims). It's also (obviously) on the adult continent of Zindra, located in the Corchalo sim, which is (roughly) 1/3 water, 1/3 protected Linden land, and 1/3 developed land. I think of it as twice the prims and half the lag!!

Yeah...Second Life...you know, as deeply addicted as I seemed to be, I'm not really sure why it doesn't hold the same appeal for me that it once did. And who knows but that maybe someday I might feel this same..."eh"...about WoW. The rent is about up on my SL rental, and Over has told me we need to talk about F'd because he's not likely to be returning to SL either. So there is that. I've got some homework to do as far as figuring out the worth of F'd and what to do with it...and all the stuff that's in it. Azeroth has me firmly in its grips...although I think what attracts me so much to WoW is a particular person there that I found in SL:) Everything else is just icing.

Yup...I've not been in Second Life much at all. Few minutes here and there over the weekend, but not at my normal addiction levels. I guess you could say I've cut back. Or probably it would be more accurate to say that I've turned in my coke habit for a crack habit. Leo's missing SL...so I suppose we will be heading back in...though at least he's trying to remember what it was like to be new to WoW too, so he's not being TOO hard on me for all my kookiness this last week or so. We have our moments. You'll have to check the other blog for my WoW status...
